Rotala rotundafolia

Rotala rotundafolia

This is commonly called Rotala indica but is actually Rotala rotundafolia. This is not a true Native American plant but has been introduced fairly widely by rice growers so it is naturalized. This is an easy stem plant to grow and is naturalized in much of the southern US. It has a wonderful pink, lavender, and green foliage which is long and kind of narrow underwater but changes to round as the plant grows out of the water. It can be grown in Bog situations, with no trouble at all. It likes medium low to medium light and will root readily.

Rotala wallichii

Rotala wallichii

Rotala wallichii is a feathery delicate looking plant. It is colored in earthy browns greens and reds. It has long been thought very difficult but it really is not. It prefers Med to High light and warm temperatures. I mean WARM , like 80 and above. The growth tip of each stem shows more green than the rest of the plant. Rotala wallichii is perfect for tropical kilifish and discus tanks especially.

Scarlet Temple

Scarlet Temple

(Alternanthera reineckii var. roseafolia)Scarlet Temple is not as easy as green Temple plant. But as far as a red leafy plant, it is pretty easy. any water parameters are fine it just loves light. I would not suggest anything less than medium light for this plant with higher light being better. CO2 is helpful but by no means necessary. Higher light encourages redder leaves and lower nitrates encourages more purple in the underleaf. This is sold as a bunch of 5 stems.

Water Nymph

(Najas diversifolia) Water Nymph is one of the easiest stems for a beginner.. It roots easily and grows in most any water conditions and Low to high Light. If Nutrients are low then it will break up into smaller pieces but that is the only potential trouble with this plant. IT grows for most anyone in most any tank. This is sold as a bunch of 5 stems.

Water Wisteria

Water Wisteria

(Hygrophila difformis) Water Wisteria is an easy plant though it will sometimes take a few days after shipping to show its true brilliance.. It will grow easily with moderate to high light and pretty well under low light given some time to acclimate. It will also grow out of the water in bog situations if preferred. The first pic is what my stems look like most of the time here due to my EXTREMELY hard water. The second pic is what they will look like in very short order with only slightly softer water.. I get this when the rains come in and I have more soft water available.
