Hygro Kompact

Hygro Kompact

(Hygrophila corymbosa var. kompact) This is a very compact variety of Hygrophila corymbosa, with the leaves set very close to the stalk. It forms many side shoots, enhancing the compact appearance. The leaves are a dark brownish green when the plant is delivered, but after a transitional period in the aquarium they will turn light green with silver-white on the underside. This plant will tolerate medium light, but will show much more red in higher light. In strong light, the newest leaves will be reddish brown in color. Over time, the oldest leaves will die away. New leaves will start to appear quickly to replace the older ones until it becomes a very low but dense "bush." Note: Extreme leaf loss (except just after shipping) may be a sign of light levels that are too low. This plant is sold per stem pricing.. I will have new pictures in next day or so.

Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo'

Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo'

( Micranthemum tweediei) Wow!! do you want dwarf baby tears but are tired of it dying??? Is Giant baby Tears too large and grows up too fast? If so then you have been wanting this plant. Micranthemum ' Monte Carlo ' as it is commonly called is the best of ALL worlds.. It likes high light but med light is more than enough to make this carpet your tank well. CO2 is always helpful but in no way required for this plant.. It will take hard to soft water and alkaline to acid AND-- get this-- It has a more weeping habit instead of growing straight up. as a carpet in the tank it will form dense carpet and grow upwards.. KEEP it trimmed or the bottom part will die off. However If you attach it to rock or driftwood it becomes dense and hangs downward instead of going straight up. Leaves are round and somewhere between dwarf baby Tears and Giant baby Tears in size.. Leaf color is bright green and growth habit is dense especially with regular trimming.. Give it two weeks after initial planting for the first trim. Then trim every 2 weeks to keep it dense and green and happy. This truly is an EASY plant.. this is sold as a 4 fl oz portion of stems but I will be offering mat forms very soon!

Pygmy Chain Sword Narrow Leaf Loose

Pygmy Chain Sword Narrow Leaf Loose

(Echinodorus tenellus) This is a Sword Plant in miniature. The leaves will not grow up further than 2.5-3 inches from the base. It reproduces via chains or runners from the base of the main plant. It can also bloom and produce seed, but the seed is difficult to germinate. The plant is commonly known as "Mud Babies" here in the south, because it can produce very long chains of plants in the dark mud along lakes, ponds, and rivers. It, like all swords, prefers a nutritious substrate with iron supplements. It can be grown emersed and will bloom more readily if grown above water. these are sold as individual bare root plants

Staurogyne repens

Staurogyne repens

Staurogyne repens AKA Tropica #49 is a fantastic new foreground plant. It is a stem but grows fast and thick. It almost reminds me of the old standby English Ivy for a ground cover. LOL Each stem is easily planted in the foreground and it will root and grow then it can be clipped and replanted and the old stem will develop several new growth heads. This plant reproduces like crazy by clipping. CO2 is helpful but not necessary. Light and some nutrients however are! This may also be grown emersed in bog like situations. This is sold by the stem!
