Red Flame Sword

Red Flame Sword

(Echinodorus " Red Flame") It has taken me a little while to get this one propagating BUT.. here they are and WOW!!! These are a beautiful variety of Sword Plant.. This is a sword that grow more up than out but it gets a lot of leaves and the leaves are amazing. New leaves come out as bright green with a red flame pattern as they begin to mature they become more olive with the red flame pattern as they become fully mature leaves the Flame pattern becomes a dark maroon red and the whole leaf becomes an off red / brown. These Plants can get large and tall when emersed but stay smaller when submerged and become full of leaves. What a pleasure to look at. Like all swords the like nutrient rich substrate and definitely some iron. They can withstand Low light but do best in med low to med or even high light. These are sold as bare root plants.

Red Rubin Sword medium

Red Rubin Sword medium

(Echinodorus "Rubin") The Red Rubin Sword is a cultivar cross between Echinodorus horemanii and E. barthii. E.'rubin" has long red, brown and green leaves in its submerged state. When emerged from the water, the leaves will turn bright green in color. This is a great background plant that will add a variety of color and texture to your freshwater planted aquarium. The Red Rubin is a easy plant to keep happy, but it can large in the aquarium. Use this plant as a background in the smaller aquarium, and as a mid-ground focal point in the larger aquarium. Do not allow its leaves to shade neighboring plants. It does well in medium low to high light but of course the higher the light the more leaves and more intense the red colors will be. Iron supplements near the roots also intensify the red color. The Red Rubin is sensitive to copper, and this type of medication should not be added to the aquarium where it is contained. These are sold as single Large sized bare root plants
