Christmas Moss portion

Christmas Moss portion

(Vesicularia montagnei) Christmas moss or X-mas moss is a thick dense growing aquatic moss. it appreciates good light and warm temps for the best growth but will do very well under moderate light. CO2 is helpful for the thickest growth but by no means necessary. Some people have trouble with this moss but I think they are over-thinking it a little. I have found this to be an easy and responsive grower with little to almost no attention. This is sold as a nice golf ball. It is a real sized golf ball portion and densely packed.

Fissidens nobilis moss Mat

Fissidens nobilis moss Mat

(Fissidens nobilis) This plant is a very fluffy, lush green plant with palm-like serrated stems that will attach to most surfaces and can grow into a large mat of impressive size. Like most mosses, it provides hiding places for shrimp and fish fry and makes for a cool-looking grazing area for shrimp. It can be easily attached to driftwood and rockwork. It is very slow-growing and only needs low to moderate lighting. I am offering this moss in a solid stainless steel mat form that makes it easy to attach to and begin growing onto rocks, driftwood, or aquarium walls and substrate. Fissidens Nobilis Moss is a very easy plant to keep without much extra care- CO2 is not required. It does not typically respond well to most chemical plant additives. Many aquascapers say they have best success with this moss ONLY through keeping a well-maintained aquarium AND NO supplementation. This is offered as a 3X3" wire mat.. the wire mat makes this extremely easy to wrap around a driftwood limb or on a rock or leave flat and wiggle it BARELY under the surface of t he substrate so only the wire is beneath.

Java Moss Small portion

Java Moss Small portion

(Taxiphyllum barbieri) Java moss hails from South East Asia. This is among the most popular and easy mosses to grow in the freshwater aquarium. It is a handy little plant as it absorbs nitrates from the tank water like a sponge. It will grow under any light conditions and in hard or soft water. This is a nice dense golfball size portion of 100% green healthy Java moss. You can use this stuff to make moss wall backgrounds in your tank or just open it up and allow it to attach to rocks or driftwood or any other decorations. I have seen half coconut shells with java growing on them that make great looking breeding huts for dwarf cichlids.

Pellia

Pellia

(Monoselenium tenerum) This is NOT a true moss at all but a liverwort. This Pellia is recommended for shrimp, as they love to seek shelter below the moss. Able to withstand a great variety of water conditions and can be tied to driftwood with sewing thread or fishing line. This plant easy to maintain, no carbon dioxide injection required for healthy growth. I do suggest a decent level of phosphates however. This liverwort species is easily propagated by simply parting the cushions. Its submerse form does not attach itself to surfaces, and may develop into a veritable pest when growing loosely. Thus it is best tied to rocks with a nylon line or tucked between other plants. At first it looks less than great when tied to a rock, but after a short time it grows into an attractive tuft which is easily kept in form by trimming. For doing so it is best to take the rock out of the tank, if possible. If you trim inside the aquarium, make sure you siphon the loose ends off. In a shrimp tank, be careful when trimming as shrimp often sit in Pellia. If Monosolenium tied to a rock is allowed to grow too large, the lowest, oldest parts may die off and the cushion comes off its substrate. The...
