Dwarf Aquarium Lily

(Nymphaea stellata) N stellata adds a lot of color to a tank and is VERY easy to grow.

These plants are quite easy to grow and add heaps of color to any tank. They are prone to growing quite large though, and they also send out the occasional floater. However, it it possible to restrict the growth by chopping the roots once a month. It is very important to chop off floating leaves before they get to they surface, if the plant knows it can reach the surface then it will start to throw up more and more floating leaves all the time. However IF you don't mind the surface floating leaves, a new surface leaf grows out about every 2-3 weeks and they provide a "canopy" for Discus or Killies or Gouramis to perch beneath. When they break the surface, the stems will bend for lack of room to grow. A tall tank is highly recommended If you intend to allow floating leaves to stay. Strong lighting will aid in this plants growth and also coloration in the leaf pattern. An excellent plant.

They require nothing special in substrate though high mineral ( especially iron) content will add more rich color.

These are sold as bare root and bulbed plants
